Shocking: Gurgaon Police allegedly beat, drag female AAP councillor before arrest

Gurgaon, May 18: In a shocking incident of police insensitivity, Gurgaon police had allegedly beaten and dragged Aam Aadmi Party councillor, Nisha Singh, by the hair.

The incident which came to light on Monday, reportedly occured on Saturday when Singh was arrested in connection with violence during a demolition by Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) on Friday.

As per a report published in NDTV, Nisha, who quit her job in Google to join politics, was reportedly arrested immediately after being discharged from a hospital where she was being treated for injuries from clashes between police and protesters.

AAP leaders have alleged conspiracy on the part of police saying they have spared Congress leaders who were also among protesters.

Police have booked Nisha and nine other women for rioting and attempted murder.

AAP sources were quoted by the news channel as saying that Nisha was just filming police action on her mobile and that is why she was attacked.

She was sent to jail after being produced before magistrate on Saturday.

Nisha, a graduate from the London School of Economics, joined AAP in 2014.
