Gujarat Teacher Lives In USA For Eight Years But Still Gets Paid—Find Out How
A head teacher at a government primary school in Banaskantha, Gujarat, has continued to receive her state government salary despite residing in the United States for the past eight years, according to a report by Gujarat Samachar.
The issue came to light following complaints from students and villagers who noted that Patel, the teacher in question, had been absent from the school for many years. The students, currently in the fifth grade, revealed that the last time they saw Patel was when they were in the third grade.

Despite her prolonged absence, Patel remains listed as an active teacher on the school's payroll. Gujarat Samachar reported that Patel, who served as the head of Pancha Primary School, has been living in Chicago since 2013 and holds a US green card.
Local media sources also mentioned that Patel returns to Gujarat annually during the Diwali holidays, a time when the school is closed. However, even during these visits, she reportedly does not engage with the school or its students.
Lack Of Action
Parul Mehta, the in-charge principal of the school, stated that the matter had been reported to the taluka education officer, district education officer, and the state education minister. Despite these reports, no action has been taken against Patel, according to Gujarat Samachar.
Meanwhile, the primary education officer informed that Patel had visited the school in January last year and has been on unpaid leave since this year. However, a show-cause notice has reportedly been issued to her, with officials calling for disciplinary action.
The situation has raised concerns among the local community and highlighted issues regarding the management and oversight within the education system in the region.
