VIDEO | Gujarat Rains: Heavy Rain Triggers Severe Flooding And Airport Damage
Due to heavy rainfall, several parts of Gujarat, including cities like Surat, Amreli, and Valsad, have been inundated with severe waterlogging, as depicted in videos shared by ANI.
IMD Scientist Pradeep Sharma, cited by ANI, has stated that widespread rains will affect all regions of Gujarat over the next five days. An alert for very heavy rainfall has been issued, particularly for Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, and Dadra Nagar Haveli.

Severe Flooding And Airport Damage After Heavy Rains
The IMD has attributed these persistent rains to cyclonic activity along the coast, indicating that districts in Southern Gujarat, notably Valsad, will continue experiencing heavy rainfall, while lighter to moderate showers are anticipated across the rest of the state.
Recent visuals from Surat show individuals wading through knee-deep water, with reports from Dainik Jagran indicating 5.2 inches of rainfall in Palsana and 3.6 inches in Surat city alone. Rainfall exceeding 2 inches has been recorded in 11 talukas across the region.
The IMD forecasts very heavy rainfall to persist in Surat, Valsad, Dang, Tapi, parts of Amreli, Navsari, Daman, and Dadra Nagar Haveli over the coming days. Dainik Jagran has reported heavy rainfall in 134 talukas of Gujarat in the past six hours alone.
During heavy rains on Saturday, the canopy at Rajkot Airport suffered damage and collapsed in the passenger pick-up area near the terminal. Fortunately, there were no reported fatalities or injuries. This incident marks the third such occurrence at an Indian airport in the past week, following incidents in Delhi and Jabalpur.
IMD has cautioned that the rainy conditions in Gujarat are likely to persist longer than previously anticipated due to cyclonic influences. Thunderstorms and cloud-to-ground lightning are also expected to accompany the rainfall in the upcoming days.
