Case Against Khalistani Leader Pannun For Issuing Threat Ahead Of India-Pakistan WC Match
An FIR has been registered against the founder of the banned organisation Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) and designated terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun after he issued a threat ahead of India vs Pakistan ICC World Cup 2023 match.
"Threatening pre-recorded messages were published on various social media handles and an attempt was made to spoil the atmosphere. FIR registered against Pannu under 121(A),153(A)(B), 505 IPC, UAPA and IT Act 66 F," ANI quoted Ajit Rajian, Cyber Crime DCP, Ahmedabad, in a tweet.

The Khalistani terrorist had particularly threatened the match held at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat on October 5. He claimed that the match on the said day would not be held while claiming that it was the beginning of the 'World Terror Cup'.
Reports had claimed that many had received call in which pre-recorded message was conveyed to the receivers. In the recorded clip, Pannun said, "On Shaheed Nijjar's assassination, we are going to use ballot against your bullet. We are going to use the vote against your violence. This October, it will not be the World Cricket Cup. It will be the beginning of the World Terror Cup. The message is from Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the SFJ general council."
He has also issued threats to Indian diplomats in Canada and demanded the Indian government shut down its mission in Ottawa.
The threat message stated, "India and the Modi regime have insulted Prime Minister Trudeau. Modi regime, it is advisable that you shut down your embassy in Ottawa and bring back your ambassador Verma. This advice is from the Canadians and this advice is from Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, the SFJ general council. We are going to hold Modi and Ambassador Verma accountable for disrespecting Prime Minister Trudeau. It's very wise to bring back Verma and shut down the Ottawa embassy."
In July, the Pro-Khalistani leader had threatened to disrupt the 2023 Cricket World Cup by bombing Narendra Modi Stadium in Gujarat.
A video, currently circulating on social media, featured Pannun issuing a threat to avenge the demise of pro-Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, who was killed by unidentified individuals in Canada.
Pannun rose to prominence by leading the Khalistan 2020 referendum campaign across various Western countries, garnering significant attention. In 2020, the Indian government designated Gurpatwant Singh Pannun as a terrorist under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA). Reportedly, he has 22 cases against him including three sedition cases.
