Govt Ready To Discuss Operation Sindoor And Trump's Ceasefire Claim In Parliament: Kiren Rijiju
As the Monsoon Session of Parliament kicks off on Monday, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday confirmed that the government is prepared to discuss all key issues, including the recent Pahalgam terror attack and the controversial Operation Sindoor. His remarks come amid mounting pressure from the Opposition, particularly over U.S. President Donald Trump's repeated claims that he helped mediate a "ceasefire" between India and Pakistan during recent hostilities.

Rijiju After All-Party Meeting
Speaking to the media following an all-party meeting, Rijiju described the atmosphere as constructive. "It was a very positive meeting. Representatives from 51 parties, totaling 40 leaders, participated and shared their inputs for the upcoming Monsoon Session," he said.

Rijiju urged cooperation from both sides of the political aisle to ensure the smooth conduct of the session. "We've requested all parties to contribute to the orderly functioning of the House. It is a shared responsibility of the ruling and opposition benches. We are also considering the suggestion to allocate more speaking time to smaller parties during the BAC (Business Advisory Committee) meetings, in accordance with parliamentary procedure," he added.

Willingness to Discuss Operation Sindoor
On the issue of Operation Sindoor and Trump's ceasefire claims, Rijiju reiterated that the Centre is open to discussion, but stressed the importance of adhering to parliamentary rules. "We are ready to discuss all important matters, including the Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor. We've heard the suggestions made by opposition leaders and will respond accordingly in Parliament," he stated.

Rijiju also welcomed the idea of openly sharing the experience of all-party delegations that visited conflict-affected areas following Operation Sindoor. "Those efforts were well-received and must be shared with the nation. It's a good suggestion that should be encouraged," he remarked.
Impeachment Motion Against Justice Yashwant Verma
On a separate note, Rijiju revealed that the impeachment motion against Justice Yashwant Verma has been gaining momentum. "We have already received over 100 signatures from Members of Parliament in support of the motion," he said.
Among the signatories are 40 Congress MPs, including Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi. Sources indicate that political parties were assigned signature quotas for the motion, with Congress allotted 40. The impeachment proposal is likely to be discussed during the ongoing Monsoon Session in the Lok Sabha.
The upcoming session is expected to be a high-voltage affair, with several contentious issues-including national security, judicial accountability, and foreign policy claims-on the table.
