Govt might not give Justice Katju a term extension
New Delhi: Justice Markandey Katju may not get an extension to his term as the Press Council of India Chairman, says a CNN-IBN report. The former Supreme Court judge is set to retire in less than three months.

The report says that the Prime Minister Office (PMO) might not extend Katju's term as the PCI Chairman.

Katju had reportedly met Information & Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar recently and expressed his willingness on a second term as the council's chief.

Recently, Katju kicked up controversy with his "corruption in judiciary" remark. He had claimed that a District Judge in Tamil Nadu was elevated to an Additional Judge of the Madras High Court despite charges of corruption against him. This turned his relationship with the government sour.
