Government To Propose Bill On Paper Leak In Parliament On Monday
In a move aimed at tackling the issue of paper leaks, the government will introduce a bill in the Lok Sabha on Monday.
The proposed legislation, titled Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Bill, seeks to address the problem of unfair practices in various examinations, including central agency competitive exams and university exams, as reported by India Today.

Penalties ranging from Rs 3 lakh to Rs 5 lakh and imprisonment up to 10 years are proposed for those found guilty under the bill. Under this proposed law's provisions, the government plans to establish a High-Level National Technical Committee.
Exams such as the teacher recruitment exam in Rajasthan, the Common Eligibility Test (CET) for Group-D posts in Haryana, the recruitment exam for junior clerks in Gujarat, and the constable recruitment examination in Bihar were among those cancelled last year following question paper leaks, reported India Today.
In the joint sitting of Parliament at the beginning of the Budget session, President Droupadi Murmu addressed and mentioned that the government is aware of youths' concerns regarding irregularities in examinations. "Therefore, it has been decided to enact a new law to deal sternly with such malpractices," Murmu said.
The Budget Session of Parliament, the last before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, commenced on Wednesday with a joint address by President Droupadi Murmu to both houses of Parliament, as reported by Indian Express.

- The President listed the government's achievements in the past year, citing India's success in reaching the south pole of the Moon, hosting a successful G20 Summit, winning over 100 medals in the Asian Games, and the inauguration of the Atal Tunnel.
- Murmu highlighted the alleviation of poverty on a large scale, emphasizing the continuation of practices from the last decade.
- She mentioned the consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the Parliament enacted strict laws against triple talaq.
- President Murmu praised the strengths of "Make in India" and "Aatmanirbhar Bharat," citing India's achievement as the second-largest exporter of mobile phones globally.
- She emphasized the four pillars for the development of India - youth power, women power, farmers, and the poor, with a significant portion of tax utilized to empower these segments.
- Addressing the country's inflation rate, she highlighted India's transition from the "Fragile 5" to becoming one of the top five economies, keeping inflation under control despite global crises.
- The President underscored the government's commitment to empowering MSMEs and creating a conducive environment for doing business in India.
