Govt gives in to OROP pressure; likely to implement from August 28
New Delhi, Aug 25: Ex-servicemen may not have to die starving, afterall! On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the 1965 war against Pakistan, the government is likely to announce the implementation One Rank Once Pension scheme.
Unconfirmed sources reveal that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to make the announcement himself.

The decision seems to have been taken when three ex-servicemen decided to go on a fast-unto-death. The three veterans are retired Pushpender Singh, Havaldar Major Singh, Havaldar Ashok Chauhan.
Things worsened when Colonel Singh was moved to the ICU on Monday after his health deteriorated. Havaldal Major Singh is also said to be critical.
