Govt gives in to bankers' demands; declare 2nd and 4th Saturdays as holiday
New Delhi, Aug 21: This government declaration has brought smiles on thousands of bank employees.
Giving in to their long-standing demands, the government has finally declared 2nd and 4th Saturdays as holiday, with effect from September 1.

Currently, all PSU private and public sector banks work half-day on Saturdays.
AIBEA general secretary C H Venkatachalam said,"This s a welcome move. This will be a big relief to employees and I hope that this will improve the productivity."
He further explained that in case of a month with five Saturdays, banks will be closed only on second and fourth Saturdays.
