Gopal Rai Conducts Late-Night Inspection of GRAP-4 Anti-Pollution Measures in Delhi
Delhi's Environment Minister, Gopal Rai, recently inspected the city's border areas late at night to assess the enforcement of GRAP-4 anti-pollution measures. He reported that every day, between 135 and 165 trucks violating these restrictions are being turned away. "Late tonight, visited the Narela/Singhu border and inspected the implementation of GRAP-4," Rai posted on X.

Rai highlighted that there have been complaints about unauthorised vehicles entering Delhi without proper checks. "Today, we received multiple complaints about unauthorised vehicles entering Delhi through various borders without being checked. That's why we came here to inspect the situation," he explained.
GRAP-4 Enforcement and Penalties
During his inspection on Friday night, Rai noted that since November 18, a significant number of trucks have been denied entry daily for not adhering to GRAP-4 restrictions. Only CNG, electric, and BS-VI compliant vehicles are permitted to enter the city. All other trucks are banned to help reduce pollution levels.
The minister emphasised that violators face strict penalties. "Those who fail to comply are being fined," he stated. Rai urged truck owners and drivers to adhere to these restrictions, stressing their importance in combating Delhi's severe air pollution.
Instructions for Officials
Rai issued firm instructions to officials to ensure there are no lapses in enforcing these measures. "As long as GRAP-4 is in place, all measures must be strictly followed. There should be no negligence in its implementation," he directed.
The minister's actions underscore the urgency of addressing Delhi's air quality issues by strictly controlling vehicle entry at its borders. The ongoing efforts aim to mitigate pollution and improve the city's air quality for its residents.
