Google Restores 200 Delisted Indian Apps After Centre Intervenes

A piece of good news on Tuesday arrived for Indian digital start-ups and companies whose applications were delisted by Google India as the tech giant announced the restoration of all delisted apps back on the Play Store. The big move by Google was made after the government-backed Indian applications that have cases pending in the Supreme Court.

In a conversation with the news agency IANS, a representative for Google said the company will uphold their right to enforce their business model, and its applications will be reinstated during the legal proceedings.

He added that Google will charge service fees and extend payment timelines for such companies.

Google also intends to find a way for all issues and satisfy its partner companies. The tech giant representative also emphasized the importance of a collaborative effort to resolve matters.

Talking to the media, Union Minister of Information and Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw said Google has agreed to restore all delisted apps of 10 companies. He also underlined the Government's efforts to find solutions to strengthen Digital India.

Recent developments

Earlier last week, Google India had removed several Indian apps from major companies including Matrimony.com, Naukri.com, and Shaadi.com, from the Play Store. These applications have millions of users across the country and worldwide. Google's decision to remove these apps sparked discussions and forced actions from both the affected companies and the Indian government.
