Good News! Amul Slashes Milk Prices By Rs 1 Per Litre – Here’s How Much You Need to Pay
In a surprising turn of events, Amul, India's largest dairy brand, has reduced the prices of its milk products, offering relief from the consistent price hikes observed over the past few years. The cost of Amul Gold, Amul Fresh, and Amul Tea Special milk has been decreased, said Jayen Mehta, the Managing Director of the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF). This price reduction marks a significant shift in the trend of rising milk costs, providing much-needed respite to consumers on January 24, 2025.
It is anticipated that Amul's decision to lower milk prices will influence other dairy companies to follow suit, potentially leading to a wider reduction in milk prices across the industry. The price cut applies to 1-litre pouches of Amul Gold, Amul Taja, and Amul Tea Special, each seeing a reduction of 1 Rupee. This move is expected to benefit consumers and potentially sway the market dynamics, encouraging competitive pricing among dairy brands.

The specifics of the price reduction reveal that Amul Gold's 1-litre packet, previously priced at 66 Rupees, will now be available for 65 Rupees. Similarly, the price of Amul Fresh has been lowered from 54 Rupees to 53 Rupees for a 1-litre pack, and Amul Tea Special's price has been decreased from 62 Rupees per litre to 61 Rupees. This adjustment in prices is a welcome change for consumers, making these dairy products slightly more affordable.
Notably, just last year in June 2024, Amul had increased its milk prices by 2 Rupees per litre. Following the hike, the cost for a 500ML pack of Amul Gold jumped from 32 to 33 Rupees, and the price for a 1-litre pack escalated from 64 to 66 Rupees. Additionally, the price for a half-litre packet of Amul Fresh rose from 26 to 27 Rupees, and Amul Shakti's half-litre price went up from 29 to 30 Rupees. As of June 3, these price increases were applied nationwide, marking the last significant change before the recent reduction.
The new pricing list for Amul's milk products is as follows: Amul Gold has been adjusted from 66 Rupees to 65 Rupees, Amul Fresh from 54 Rupees to 53 Rupees, and Amul Tea Special from 62 Rupees to 61 Rupees. This revised pricing strategy is likely to be well-received by the market, offering a slight relief amid the ongoing inflationary pressures.
