Gogoi extends greetings to people on Durga Puja

Guwahati, Oct 19: Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi has extended his festive greetings and good wishes to the people and said Durga Puja signifies triumph of truth and righteousness in the struggle of good over evil.

In a statement here today, Gogoi said, "Durga Puja unites us to serve the poor and deprived and work for humanity and well-being of everybody and work towards building a just society in which peace and harmony prevails keeping in view that service to mankind is service to God".

The Chief Minister hoped that the spirit of Durga Puja would bring to an end violence, intolerance, hatred and atrocities on women and children.

Gogoi further hoped that the festival would spread the message of peace, prosperity and goodwill among the people and wished everybody a happy Duja puja celebration.

He invoked the blessings of Goddess Durga so that he can serve the people of the state with renewed zeal and vigour in the days ahead.
