The policy encourages influencers to create and share content related to government projects on platforms such as X, Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube. Influencers will be categorized based on their follower count, and payments will be made according to these categories, as reported by Hindustan Times.
For social media activities on platforms like X, Facebook, and Instagram, influencers can earn a maximum of ₹5 lakh, ₹4 lakh, ₹3 lakh, and ₹2 lakh, depending on their reach and impact.
For content on YouTube, including videos, shorts, and podcasts, the earning potential is even higher. Influencers in different categories can earn up to ₹8 lakh, ₹7 lakh, ₹6 lakh, and ₹4 lakh per month, based on the quality and engagement of their content.
Principal Secretary of the Information Department, Sanjay Prasad, announced that the government will also list agencies and firms responsible for handling these advertisements. The policy aims to regulate social media content and includes strict guidelines against anti-national, defamatory, and obscene content, which could result in severe penalties ranging from three years to life imprisonment, as per media reports.
This new initiative not only provides a substantial income opportunity for influencers but also aims to enhance the visibility and impact of government schemes, ultimately fostering a more informed and engaged public.
