A slip reading "Himanshu bhau since 2020" was found at the scene, indicating an extortion attempt by the Himanshu Bhau gang demanding Rs 5 crore from the owner.

Rising Extortion Cases in Delhi

According to police statistics accessed exclusively by , 133 extortion cases were reported in Delhi this year until August 15. This is slightly lower than last year's 141 cases during the same period but higher than 110 cases in 2022. Throughout 2023, there were 204 extortion cases compared to 187 in 2022.

Police sources revealed that 11 gangs have been identified for making extortion calls and threatening businessmen in the National Capital Region recently.
