Gangster Amritpal Singh Shot Dead By Punjab Cops
The Punjab Police shot dead a gangster named Amritpal Singh on Wednesday at Jandiala Guru near Amritsar.
The incident occurred when Singh was trying to escape from the cops after he was taken to Jandiala Guru to recover heroin and a weapon allegedly in his possession.

Taken into custody on Tuesday, the criminal discharged a firearm at the police upon arrival at the scene. In retaliation, the police responded with gunfire, resulting in Singh sustaining critical injuries. Satinder Singh, the Senior Superintendent of Police of Rural Amritsar, said that the gangster was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
"During interrogation on Tuesday, he disclosed that he had hidden two kg of heroin. We brought him here to recover the narcotics," PTI quoted senior Superintendent of Police of Amritsar (Rural) Satinder Singh as saying.
The gangster, who was involved in at least four murders and two attempted murders, did not reveal that he had hidden a weapon there, the police officer said.
During the police operation to confiscate two kilograms of heroin, Amritpal brandished a 9 mm pistol and fired shots, resulting in an injury to one officer. Another officer narrowly avoided harm as a bullet pierced through his turban, according to the SSP.
