New Delhi, Aug 19: Delhi has become one of the most dangerous and unsafe cities in the country. Despite several security measures in the national capital, reports of rape, gangrape and crime against women cases have been making headlines everyday. Heavy protest following the infamous December 16, 2012 gangrape case failed to create awareness in the city.

Now, a nurse has been gangraped by two men in a five star hotel in Delhi. 28-year-old victim, who hailed from Tibet, was allegedly gang-raped by two youths in a reputed five-star hotel in Hazrat Nizamuddin area of southeast Delhi, police said. The two accused, identified as Neeraj and Rajan, in their early 20s, have been arrested.

"The 28-year-old nurse has alleged that she was raped by the duo in Oberoi Hotel. Both of them have been arrested," said Deputy Commissioner of Police (southeast) P Karunakaran.

The victim, who works with a well-known hospital, had gone to the hotel to look after the around 80-year-old wife of the hotel's owner, who needed an attendant throughout the day due to her medical condition. Neeraj and Rajan were also hired by the woman's family to take care of the woman, said another senior police official.

According to the victim's statement, Rajan and Neeraj raped her in the guest room of the suite of the hotel where the patient was put up.

The nurse was allegedly first gang-raped by the duo on midnight of Independence Day. They had threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone. However, she revealed it to her husband last night after the duo tried to assault her again last night.

The woman's husband then informed the police and based on a complaint by the victim, a case under appropriate sections of the IPC was registered at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station.

A medical examination of the nurse also confirmed rape.

"The incident is very unfortunate. The individuals in question are not hotel employees. We are fully cooperating with the police and local authorities with the investigation," said Deepica Sharma, communications manager of The Oberoi Hotel located at Dr Zakir Hussain Marg.
