Yogi Adityanath Directs Completion of Ganga Expressway by February 2026 for Enhanced Connectivity

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has mandated the completion of the Ganga expressway by February 2026. This project aims to improve connectivity and support industrial and agricultural development across the state.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has set a deadline for the Ganga expressway construction to be finished by February 2026. During a high-level meeting, he assessed the state's key infrastructure, irrigation, energy, education, and industrial projects. Adityanath emphasised that completing these initiatives promptly and with quality is the government's top priority to boost economic growth and investment in Uttar Pradesh.

Adityanath highlighted the significance of the 594-kilometre-long Ganga expressway, stating it will enhance connectivity and serve as a foundation for industrial, agricultural, and logistics activities. The expressway will traverse 12 districts and benefit over 500 villages. Testing for road quality includes modern technical standards like the roughness index and riding comfort index. High standards are being applied to develop way-side amenities, rest areas, road safety features, signage, and access-control systems.

Focus on Infrastructure Development

In addition to the expressway, Adityanath reviewed the Noida International Airport in Jewar. He remarked that this airport will become a pivotal centre for global connectivity, investment, and job creation in Uttar Pradesh. With its launch, the state is poised to explore new opportunities as an air cargo hub. Timely preparation for subsequent phases of the airport is crucial.

The meeting revealed that once the first phase of Jewar airport becomes operational, it will offer modern facilities to over one crore passengers annually. This development is expected to significantly boost the state's connectivity and economic prospects.

Advancements in Irrigation and Energy

During discussions on the Middle Ganga Canal project stage-2, Adityanath underscored the importance of irrigation projects in boosting agricultural output and farmers' income. The project aims to expand irrigation facilities across Amroha, Moradabad, and Sambhal districts, thereby strengthening the rural economy.

Adityanath also reviewed hydro-electric projects in Rihand and Obra areas. He stressed that enhancing energy security is vital for industrial growth in Uttar Pradesh. The chief minister noted that development involves not just construction but also implementing timely, quality public-utility projects on the ground.

Ensuring Timely Project Completion

Adityanath instructed officials to regularly review all major projects to ensure they progress swiftly. This approach aims to maintain continuous momentum in Uttar Pradesh's development journey. The chief minister's directives reflect a commitment to advancing infrastructure while ensuring quality and efficiency.

The focus on infrastructure development highlights Uttar Pradesh's efforts to position itself as an economic powerhouse. By prioritising timely completion of major projects like the Ganga expressway and Jewar airport, the state aims to attract investment and improve connectivity.
