Gandhi Jayanti not a holiday in Rajasthan universities this year
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had in 2014, cancelled October 2 as holiday and asked all government employees to be present in office.
The new calendar issued by the office of Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh does not have Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 as a holiday this year.

In the new calendar, there are holidays only for Moharram and Diwali in October.
Governor Kalyan Singh is also the chancellor of all state universities.
The Hindustan Times quoted a Rajbhawan spokesperson as saying that the holiday calendar was issued according to the gazetted holiday calendar issued by the state government.
Higher education minister Kiran Maheshwari said since all schools, colleges and universities of the state observe celebrations on October 2, it was decided to not declare Gandhi Jayanti as a holiday.

In 2014, the year BJP government assumed power at the Centre, Modi launched 'clean India' campaign, aimed at cleaning the country. All government officials were asked to come to office and take part in cleaning the office. They were also administered oath of cleanliness.
