G20 Summit: Rishi Sunak Says 'Won't Tolerate Khalistani Extremism In UK'

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, who arrived in Delhi on Friday to participate in the grand G20 Summit, has emphasized the United Kingdom's commitment to collaborating with the Indian government in addressing the Khalistani issue. Sunak made it clear that he will not tolerate any form of violent Khalistani extremism within the UK.

G20 Summit: Rishi Sunak Says Wont Tolerate Khalistani Extremism In UK

This statement comes amid growing concerns in India regarding the activities of pro-Khalistan elements in the UK, particularly following the attack on the Indian High Commission in London on March 19. The attack triggered strong condemnation from Indian Americans, who called for swift action against those responsible.

"We are working very closely with the Indian government, especially to counter 'PKE' (Pro-Khalistan Extremism). I don't think it's right. Our security Minister recently visited India and held discussions with his counterparts. We have established working groups to share intelligence and information so that we can root out this kind of violent extremism," Sunak stated during an interview with news agency ANI.

In response, India registered a strong protest with the UK, and the Delhi Police filed a First Information Report (FIR) for a crime committed abroad. Subsequently, the case was handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Rishi Sunak, accompanied by his wife Akshata Murthy, arrived in India for the G20 Leaders' Summit, scheduled to span the next two days in New Delhi. Upon arrival, Sunak expressed his commitment to collaborating with world leaders to address challenges that affect everyone.

"I've arrived in Delhi ahead of the G20 summit. I am meeting world leaders to address some of the challenges that impact every one of us. Only together can we get the job done," Sunak shared in a post on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter.
