Foreign dignitaries have started arriving in India ahead of the G20 Summit, which will be held in New Delhi on September 9-10. The summit will be hosted at the newly constructed Bharat Mandapam Convention Centre in Pragati Maidan. Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already landed in Delhi, and other leaders are expected to arrive in the coming days.
US President Joe Biden, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, Chinese Premier Li Qiang, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau are all scheduled to arrive in India on Friday. Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida will also be landing in India on the same day.

British PM Rishi Sunak:
Rishi Sunak, the Indian-origin British Prime Minister, is expected to touch down in Delhi at 1:40 pm on Friday, September 8. He will receive a warm welcome from Union Minister for State, Ashwini Kumar Choubey. In anticipation of his arrival in India, Sunak commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, stating, "I pay tribute to Prime Minister Modi's leadership over the last year, and it's wonderful to see India showing such global leadership." Reports suggest that Sunak's relatives in India have planned an elaborate reception in New Delhi.
Japanese PM Fumio Kishida:
Following Sunak, Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is another prominent leader set to land at Palam Air Force Station at 2:15 pm. He will also be received by MoS Ashwini Kumar Choubey. This marks Kishida's second visit to India, having previously undertaken a two-day visit in March of this year. Prime Minister Modi mentioned that both leaders discussed the entirety of India-Japan relations and emphasized the focus areas for India's G-20 Presidency and Japan's G-7 Presidency, aimed at enhancing our planet.
US President Joe Biden:
US President Joe Biden is scheduled to arrive at 6:55 pm on Friday, with MoS Gen (retd) VK Singh present at the airport to extend a welcome. This visit marks Biden's first to India as President. There was some uncertainty about whether Biden would be able to attend the summit after his wife, Jill Biden, tested positive for Covid-19. However, he was given the green light to travel on September 6 after his test results came back negative.
Canada PM Justin Trudeau:
Immediately following Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is expected to arrive in New Delhi at 7 pm. MoS Rajeev Chandrasekhar will be there to receive him. Bilateral relations between India and Canada have faced challenges in recent years due to increased activities of Khalistani separatist groups in Canada, a concern that New Delhi has urged Ottawa to address.
Chinese Premier Li Qiang:
Chinese President Xi Jinping will not be attending the summit, but China will be represented by Premier Li Qiang, who is scheduled to land at 7:45 pm. Xi's absence from the G20 Summit raised speculation that China is signaling its unwillingness to accept the Western-dominated global order. However, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar played down Xi's absence, stating that it was "not unusual" and would not impact negotiations aimed at reaching a consensus communique during the meeting.
