From Silicon Valley To Sangam: Steve Jobs' Widow Laurene Powell Jobs’ Maha Kumbh Experience

Laurene Powell Jobs, the widow of late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, has developed allergies during her visit to the Maha Kumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, according to an NDTV report. Despite her health concerns, she is set to take part in the sacred ritual of dipping in the Ganga at the Triveni Sangam.

Spiritual leader Swami Kailashanand Giri, under whose guidance she is staying, confirmed this on Tuesday. Speaking to ANI, he said, "She will participate in the ritual of taking a dip at the Sangam. She is currently resting in my 'shivir'. As someone unfamiliar with such large gatherings, she seems overwhelmed but remains simple and eager to engage in our traditions. She also joined us during the pooja ceremonies."

Ms Powell Jobs, affectionately renamed Kamala by Giri, arrived on Monday to witness this grand event, which coincides with a rare celestial alignment occurring after 144 years. She plans to stay at the Niranjini Akhara camp in the Kumbh tent city until 15 January, before returning to the United States for President-elect Donald Trump's swearing-in ceremony on 20 January.

On Tuesday, during the first Amrit Snan or sacred dip, an estimated three to four crore devotees gathered at the Triveni Sangam, where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mystical Saraswati rivers converge. The 13 Akhadas of the Sanatan Dharma, representing Shaivite, Vaishnavite, and Udaseen traditions, also performed their sacred dips in a sequence.

Maha Kumbh is a globally renowned religious congregation held every 12 years at one of four sacred locations in India. This year's Poorna Kumbh will continue until 26 February, with key dates for sacred dips including:

14 January: Makar Sankranti
29 January: Mauni Amavasya (Second Snan)
3 February: Basant Panchami (Third Snan)
12 February: Maghi Purnima
26 February: Maha Shivaratri

This spiritual festival attracts millions of devotees and remains a vibrant celebration of India's rich cultural and religious heritage.
