Four coaches of Mumbai local train derail, 5 injured

By Vikas

Four coaches of a local train in Mumbai derailed near Mahim on Friday. Five people were reportedly injured in the incident.

Derailment took place at Mahim station

The train, plying between Andheri-Chhatrapati Shivaji terminus, derailed around 9.55 am. The train movement in the Wadala-Andheri section has been affected due to the derailment.

With the railway officials scurrying for cover over derailment incidents, a narrow gauge train derailed in Gujarat's Dang area on Wednesday.

Union Minister of Railways Suresh Prabhu had on Wednesday offered to resign following a number of train derailment incidents in recent times.

Chairman of the Railway Board AK Mittal had tendered his resignation to Suresh Prabhu on Wednesday after Kaifiyat Express derailed in Auraiya, Uttar Pradesh. Mittal was facing flak after the Utkal Express derailment in Muzaffarnagar.

Mittal was on Sunday sent on leave after the prima facie evidence showed negligence on the part of maintenance staff as the reason why the Utkal Express derailed.
