Former RJD Leader Dularchand Yadav, Lalu’s Aide, Shot Dead in Bihar’s Mokama

Dularchand Yadav, a former Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and close aide of Lalu Prasad Yadav, was killed in Bihar's Mokama on Thursday.

The incident occurred when gunfire broke out between two rival groups amid election campaigning. Yadav had been canvassing in support of Jan Suraaj party candidate Piyush Priyadarshi at the time of the clash.

According to eyewitnesses, chaos followed as people fled the scene in panic after multiple rounds of firing. Dularchand Yadav sustained a bullet injury to his chest and died instantly.

Piyush Priyadarshi Alleges Political Conspiracy

Shortly after the incident, Jan Suraaj candidate Piyush Priyadarshi released a video on Facebook around 3 pm, accusing the Janata Dal (United) nominee from Mokama, Anant Singh, of masterminding the attack.

He claimed the violence was a deliberate attempt to disrupt campaigning and intimidate supporters.

Dularchand Yadav's Political Legacy

Dularchand Yadav was a well-known figure in the Mokama Tal region and had long-standing ties with Lalu Prasad Yadav. A former RJD strongman, Yadav was considered influential during the 1990s when Lalu Yadav held power in Bihar.

He was also credited with helping build RJD's grassroots organization in the early years of the party. Despite moving away from active politics under the RJD banner, his local influence remained significant.

Police Investigation Underway

Following reports of the firing, senior police officers including the ASP of Barh, Rural SP, and SSP Patna reached the spot to assess the situation. Security personnel have been deployed in large numbers to maintain order and prevent further unrest.

Preliminary findings suggest the clash may have been triggered by an old political rivalry or disputes over regional dominance. Authorities have launched an investigation to identify those involved in the attack.
