A tragic road accident on the Solapur-Pune National Highway claimed the lives of five devotees late Saturday night, turning a religious journey into a heartbreaking incident.

The crash took place near Devdari Pati in the Mohol area when a car carrying pilgrims from Panvel met with a severe accident while travelling towards Akkalkot for darshan at a well-known temple.

The impact of the accident was fatal for most of the occupants, while one woman sustained critical injuries and is currently undergoing treatment.

Pilgrims' Journey Ends in Tragedy Near Mohol

The victims were on their way from Panvel to Akkalkot to visit the revered temple for worship. The journey, which began as a spiritual trip, ended in disaster around midnight on the busy national highway.

According to initial information, the vehicle was travelling at a high speed when the accident occurred, raising concerns over the dangers of night travel on highways.

The sudden crash left little time for help to arrive, and the severity of the impact resulted in the immediate death of five passengers.

Car Loses Control, Hits Tree; One Survivor Hospitalised

The accident occurred near Devdari Pati when the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle. The car veered off the road and crashed into a tree with great force. Five people died on the spot due to the impact, while the lone survivor, a woman, was rushed to the government hospital in Mohol in a critical condition.

Police Begin Investigation, Identification Underway

The Mohol police have registered a case and begun an investigation into the incident. Preliminary findings suggest that excessive speed and loss of control may have led to the crash. Police are working to identify the deceased and inform their families.

Authorities have once again appealed to motorists to drive cautiously, especially during night hours, as road accidents continue to pose a serious risk on national highways.
