Fire Extinguisher on Tracks Confirmed as Railway Property After Investigation

A scare occurred on Sunday when a train driver noticed a cylinder-like object on the tracks between Govindpuri and Bhimsen stations. The train was en route from Mumbai to Lucknow. The driver applied brakes after spotting the object, which turned out to be a fire extinguisher, according to officials.

Railway Property Fire Extinguisher Causes Alarm

The incident happened around 4 am, shortly after the train left Govindpuri station. Additional Director General Railways Prakash D stated that the loco pilot immediately informed the control room about the situation. The extinguisher was identified as railway property.

Railway Safety Concerns

Railway officials, along with the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP), conducted an investigation. They concluded there was no criminal intent involved in this incident. The extinguisher likely fell from another train accidentally, as per the inquiry report.

The section engineer carriage & wagon Gorakhpur had issued the fire safety cylinder. No First Information Report (FIR) has been filed regarding this matter. However, railway officials remain vigilant due to similar recent incidents.

Recent Rail Track Incidents

On Saturday, a 16-year-old boy was caught for allegedly placing a fencing pillar on the Banda-Mahoba rail track, causing disruptions. A passenger train driver had to use emergency brakes after noticing the pillar, police reported.

In another incident on Saturday, a train engine hit a stone placed on the tracks in Ballia's Bairia area. Fortunately, no damage occurred. The RPF has formed a special team to investigate these cases and is conducting patrols along the rail route.

Ongoing Investigations

RPF Inspector VK Singh stated, "We believe that this has been done with the intention of derailing the train." The team suspects an unknown person placed the stone on the tracks.

On September 8, an alleged attempt to derail the Kalindi Express was reported when an LPG cylinder was found on tracks in Kanpur. An empty gas cylinder was also discovered by a goods train loco pilot near Prempur railway station last week. Both incidents are under investigation.

These events highlight ongoing safety concerns for railway operations. Authorities are taking measures to prevent such occurrences and ensure passenger safety across rail networks.
