Farmers, engineers, doctors in AAP second list for Karnataka polls

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) ha released its second list of 60 candidates, who will be contesting the upcoming elections in Karnataka.

The AAP had released its first list comprising 80 candidates.

Farmers, doctors, engineers part of AAP’s second list of candidates for Karnataka polls

The list of candidates includes, 14 farmers, 18 advocates, 6 doctors, 11 women, 23 engineers and four IT professionals. The party has also fielded 5 doctorates, 29 post-graduates,68 graduates and six MBA holders.

"We even have given a ticket to a former BMTC conductor because we believe that only a common man can understand the pains of a common man," the party said in a statement.

The party also said that 59 of the 60 candidates announced part of the second list are first time contestants.

"People of Karnataka are tired of the existing 3 parties, and 46 per cent have said that they want a new party," the AAP said.

Recently AAP supremo, Arvind Kejriwal had said that the party will be contesting in all 224 constituencies in the state.

The BJP is the only party which is yet to announce its list of candidates. Reports suggest that the BJP will release its full list of candidates either on April 6 or 7. The Congress and JD(S) on the other hand have announced its first list of candidates.

Speculations are rife that the Congress and JD(S) are waiting for the BJP to announce its full list, before they could make their list final. Charges have been traded by all parties of poaching attempts being made before the final lists are finalised. Chief Minister Basavarj Bommai has accused the Congress of trying to poach its leaders. The Congress has however denied all these charged.

Polling in Karnataka will be held on May 10, while counting of votes will take place on May 13. The Election Commission of India had earlier this week, announced the full schedule for the Karnataka Assembly elections.

The BJP will be looking to retain power, while the Congress on the other hand is going all guns to overthrow the ruling party. The JD(S) on the other hand is expecting like always that it would play kingmaker, if no party is able to secure a clear majority.
