Faridabad, Mar 3: A 250-feet-high tricolour was today unfurled here, making a place in 2015 Limca Book of Records, Faridabad MLA Vipul Goel said.
The 48 kilogram flag was hoisted in the middle of the town park in the presence of BJP National President Amit Shah who was the chief guest of the event.
Shah said that he is feeling proud to be a part of the event. He also thanked Vipul Goel for the initiative and later tweeted that he was proud to witness such moment.
The Chief Minister of Haryana Manohar Lal Khattar, who was also present on the occasion, said that Haryana has always contributed in making the country proud. Indian film actor, Ranbir Kapoor, was also present on the occasion.
He also addressed the gathering and expressed his happiness to be a part of the event. The record has been marked in the book of 2015 and will also be a part of the Limca book to be released in 2016, representative of Limca Book of Records said.
The moment was a matter of proud not only for the residents of the city but also of the whole country, said Goel. Other present on the occasion were Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Krishna Pal Gurjar MP from Faridabad, Moolchand Sharma MLA from Ballabgarh, Seema Trikha MLA from Badkhal constituency Faridabad, Anil Jindal Chairman SRS group, Navdeep Chawla President Faridabad Industries Association, Sanjiv Khemka the leading industrialist, S.K Kapoor Chairman Super Screws and others.
The responsibility of maintenance and upkeep of the flag has been taken by Manav Rachna Group of Institutions.
Brigadier Kuldip Singh Chandpuri, Mahavir Chakra holder, who led the legendary battle of Longewala, was also present on the dais. In between the program the band from CRPF played tunes of 'Sare Jahan se Achha' and 'Vande Mataram'.
