Fake ‘UK Doctor’ Accused Of Conducting Heart Surgeries In Madhya Pradesh; 7 Deaths Reported
A man allegedly impersonating a British cardiologist has been accused of conducting heart surgeries at a Christian missionary hospital in Damoh, Madhya Pradesh, resulting in at least seven deaths, according to a report by ANI.
The accused, identified as Narendra Vikramaditya Yadav, is said to have posed as a UK-based doctor named N John Kem. He reportedly secured employment at the private missionary hospital by claiming to be a qualified heart specialist. Authorities say he went on to perform multiple surgeries, several of which resulted in patient deaths.

An investigation is currently underway. Advocate and district president of the Child Welfare Committee, Deepak Tiwari, stated that although the official death toll stands at seven, the actual number of victims could be higher. He previously lodged a complaint with the Damoh district magistrate regarding the matter.
Tiwari said, "Some patients who survived told us they had brought their father to the hospital. The man offered to operate, but they were suspicious and took him to Jabalpur instead. That's when we discovered that the doctor was an imposter. The real Dr. John Kem is in Britain. This person is Narendra Yadav." He also claimed Yadav had an existing case registered against him in Hyderabad and failed to provide valid identification documents.
According to Priyanka Kanoongo, a member of the National Human Rights Commission, the hospital where Yadav worked received government funding under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. She told ANI, "We received a complaint that a fake doctor carried out surgeries at a missionary hospital. It was also brought to our attention that the hospital is connected to the Ayushman Bharat scheme and is receiving government payments. This is a serious matter, and we have taken cognisance. A full investigation is underway."
Yadav has allegedly used the identity of Dr. N John Kem before. In July 2023, he posted on social media platform X, tagging Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and suggesting he be sent to France to help quell riots occurring there at the time.
