Fadnavis to Expose Alleged MVA-Era Scams at Mumbai BJP Rally

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis recently criticized the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government for their alleged involvement in scams during the COVID-19 pandemic, contrasting their actions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to facilitate vaccine production. Speaking at the first major rally of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Mumbai, Fadnavis highlighted the central government's support to scientists and accused the then-state government of mismanagement and corruption.

Fadnavis Targets MVA Scams

The Deputy Chief Minister, addressing a crowd in anticipation of the Lok Sabha polls scheduled for May 20 in Mumbai, announced his plans to reveal a detailed list of alleged scams under the MVA regime from November 2019 to June 2022. He accused the MVA government, comprising the Shiv Sena UBT, Congress, and NCP (Sharadchandra Pawar), of exploiting the pandemic situation by indulging in irregularities related to the supply of meals and procurement of body bags for the deceased.

Fadnavis's allegations extended to the functioning of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), which has been under Shiv Sena's control. He criticized their inability to launch significant projects for Mumbai's development, despite having the resources. In contrast, he praised Prime Minister Modi for initiating infrastructure projects like metro rail, sewage treatment plants, and improving local train services in Mumbai.

The rally also saw the presence of BJP Lok Sabha nominees Piyush Goyal (Mumbai North), Ujjwal Nikam (Mumbai North West), and Mihir Kotecha (Mumbai North East), alongside the party's city unit president Ashish Shelar. Fadnavis took this opportunity to caution political opponents against using derogatory language against BJP members, asserting that his party could retaliate strongly against such criticism.

Highlighting the central government's contributions to Mumbai's infrastructure, Fadnavis questioned the MVA's achievements and their contribution to the city's development projects. With Mumbai's Lok Sabha seats set to vote in the fifth phase on May 20, these allegations and comparisons draw a stark contrast between the BJP's developmental agenda and the previous government's alleged misdeeds.
