Eye Drop Price: PresVu Eye Drops In India - Availability, Cost, Dosage, And More

PresVu eye drops, developed by Entod Pharmaceuticals at its R&D center in India, have received final approval from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI), marking a significant breakthrough in eye care, according to reports from Tuesday, September 3. Nikkhil K Masurkar, CEO of the Mumbai-based company, previously hailed PresVu as a "revolutionary treatment for presbyopia."

In a LinkedIn post earlier this year, Masurkar described PresVu as the first eye drop in India designed to eliminate the need for reading glasses among individuals aged 40 to 55 with mild to intermediate presbyopia, offering a novel alternative to traditional reading glasses.

The approval follows successful multi-centric Phase 3 clinical trials conducted in India by ENTOD. The Subject Expert Committee (SEC) of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) reviewed and endorsed the product.

What is Presbyopia?

Presbyopia is a natural age-related condition where the eyes gradually lose the ability to focus on nearby objects, typically becoming noticeable in the early to mid-40s and worsening until around age 65. PresVu is specifically designed to address this condition and is the first eye drop of its kind to be introduced in India.

Masurkar emphasized that PresVu has been rigorously tested for efficacy and safety in Indian eyes and is also approved by the US FDA.

Availability and Cost in India

PresVu eye drops are expected to launch in the Indian market during the first week of October, according to news agency PTI. The company plans to cater to domestic demand as well as emerging markets in Africa and Southeast Asia. The retail price for a single vial of PresVu eye drops is set at ₹345, with each vial designed to last approximately one month.

Usage Instructions

PresVu should be used once daily, and its effects can last several hours. For optimal results, users are advised to follow their healthcare provider's instructions on dosage and administration.
