Chennai, Dec 5: There may be an announcement on J Jayalalithaa at 6 pm today, tweeted Rajya Sabha MP, Subramanian Swamy. The MP did not elaborate on what the announcement would be.

A meeting of the AIADMK leaders is scheduled to be held at Chennai at 6 pm. The meeting is being held with a view of electing an interim leader as the chief minister continues to be critical at the Apollo hospital.

There is speculation rife in Tamil Nadu which has led to several leaders appearing to stop rumor mongering. The doctors say that she remains very critical and the best possible treatment is being offered to her.

There are scores of people gathered outside the Apollo hospital where Jayalalithaa has been admitted. Security is at a high with scores of police personnel on duty. Security has been stepped across the state as a precautionary measure.

The state of Tamil Nadu remains on very high alert.
