Events in Pakistan show public has said ‘enough is enough’ to the army

The developments in Pakistan are fast developing. After a massive backlash following the arrest of Imran Khan, a court indicted him.

Protests continue in Pakistan and the army and ISI headquarters too have been attacked.
This time the difference is that the violence that has been witnessed is like never before.

Furthermore the fact that Imran Khan was arrested by the Punjab Rangers and not Islamabad police is also quite telling.

The nature of the violence only goes on to show the kind of anger that there is against the Pakistan Army which has always dictated terms in the country. These incidents also have shown the extent the army meddles in the politics of the country.

The fact that so many people came out in protest and vandalised property shows how deep the hate towards the Pakistan army is.

What Imran Khan has managed to do since his ouster as prime minister is that he has garnered enough public support. The manner in which the events have played out in Pakistan is proof of that.

An analyst tells OneIndia that the army may want this issue to die down as soon as possible. However this would not happen anytime soon. The army would now try and postpone the elections. But this would not really help as the issue will not die down as Imran Khan will not allow the same. In a nut shell the wedge between the public and army will only widen. The army may try and go for some strong action, but the public this time around is no mood to relent.
