Yogi Adityanath Directs Flawless Arrangements for Amrit Snan on Basant Panchami

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure flawless arrangements for the Amrit Snan at the Maha Kumbh on Basant Panchami. During a review meeting in Prayagraj, he emphasised the need for grandeur in the traditional shobha yatra of akharas and timely completion of all preparations. The chief minister stressed the importance of security and convenience for everyone attending the event.

Adityanath highlighted that Sunday and Monday would be crucial days, with no VIP protocol in place during major bathing events. He instructed officials to expand parking facilities to minimise walking for devotees. Senior police officers were tasked with managing traffic at key points. The chief minister's directives followed a tragic stampede on Wednesday, where 30 people died and 60 were injured near the Sangam due to a heavy influx of pilgrims.

Security Measures and Communication

The chief minister underscored the significance of smooth execution of the Amrit Snan on Basant Panchami. He instructed officials to install robust barriers, place signages at elevated positions, and ensure adequate lighting. Adityanath also emphasised using satellite phones for improved communication and ordered additional police deployment at sensitive areas.

Police verification of suspicious individuals in the Jhunsi area was mandated, along with removing encroachments. Street vendors were instructed not to occupy roads and should be relocated to designated areas. Regular police patrolling, along with crane and ambulance services, must be ensured, according to Adityanath.

Traffic Management and Safety Protocols

The chief minister's focus on safety included assigning senior police officers to manage traffic effectively at crucial locations. This measure aims to prevent overcrowding and ensure smooth movement during the event. Adityanath's directives are part of a broader effort to avoid incidents like the recent stampede near the Sangam.
