Arvind Kejriwal Commits to Prioritising Employment for Young People in Delhi Over Next Five Years

Arvind Kejriwal, leader of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), stated that if his party is re-elected in Delhi, creating jobs for young people will be his main focus. Speaking at a rally in Vishwas Nagar before the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections, he emphasised, "The biggest work I am going to do is on employment. I will arrange employment for our youngsters. Providing employment to our youngsters will be my top priority."

Kejriwals Employment Commitment for Delhi Youth

Kejriwal also highlighted the achievements of his government over the past decade, such as offering free electricity, water, and quality healthcare, and improving government schools. He urged voters to compare these benefits with those in BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Haryana. "You can call up your relatives in BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Haryana, and ask if they get zero electricity bills," he said.

Promises and Criticisms

The AAP leader criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), warning that if they come to power, they might close mohalla clinics and stop free bus rides for women. He outlined AAP's manifesto promises, including a monthly allowance of Rs 2,100 for women under the Mahila Samman Yojana and free healthcare for seniors under the Sanjeevani Yojana.

Kejriwal accused BJP leaders of failing to address Delhi's law and order issues while focusing on personal attacks against him. "They BJP leaders never say what they have done for the city in the last 10 years. All they do is abuse me. They call me by different names," he remarked.

Local Election Battles

Accompanied by AAP candidate Deepak Singhla, Kejriwal campaigned in Vishwas Nagar, where BJP's O P Sharma has won the last three elections. The AAP faces stiff competition here as it seeks to retain its influence in Delhi.

In Krishna Nagar, Kejriwal promised to increase mohalla clinics from three to one in every ward if re-elected. The AAP has fielded Vikas Bagga, son of incumbent MLA S K Bagga, who won in 2015 and 2020.

Challenges in Gandhi Nagar

During a rally in Gandhi Nagar, Kejriwal criticised BJP members for their actions in slum areas. "These days, BJP people are sleeping in slums. I want to caution those living in slums that these people demolish those slums where they sleep," he warned.

Naveen Choudhary is contesting from Gandhi Nagar for AAP against incumbent BJP MLA Anil Kumar Bajpai. Choudhary previously won this seat with both AAP and BJP tickets in different elections.

The AAP aims for a third consecutive term after winning 62 out of 70 seats in the 2020 elections. The results of the current polls will be announced on February 8.
