Chandigarh: Elderly couple beat mercilessly by neighbour

Chandigarh, Dec 11: An elderly couple was dragged and slapped mercilessly by their neighbour at their mobile shop in Chandigarh in sector 18. It is said that the youth was under the influence of alcohol and targetted the couple when some dispute over his handset had not been resolved by their son.

While other shop owners stood as mute spectators, the man barged into their shop and started hitting the lady. When her husband tried stopping him, he thrashed him too. He also threatened to kill the entire family if they went to the police.

The elderly man said,"I reminded him of our age and said that my wife was like his mother. But he paid no heed and started thrashing me too." The couple are a resident of sector 30. Based on the CCTV footage of the shop, police have arrested the youth.
