Questioning of Individuals

During the raids, the ED questioned businessmen and individuals closely associated with those previously arrested in connection with the scam. The ED official revealed that these raids were linked to the ration distribution scam and that information about the involvement of these individuals was obtained during the interrogation of those already in custody.

Raids on Businessman's Premises

The ED conducted raids on the premises of three individuals, including a foreign exchange trader from Bangaon in North 24 Parganas district. According to the official, funds from the scam were transferred to various accounts abroad, and this particular businessman from Bangaon had close ties with the arrested TMC leader Shankar Adhya.

Adhya, the former chairman of the Bangaon Municipality, is alleged to own at least 90 forex trading companies registered under the names of his family members. The ED raided the businessman's office in Sector V of Salt Lake and his two flats on EM Bypass, seizing several documents, including bank details and information related to his properties and businesses.

Arrests and Ongoing Investigations

The ED has already arrested state forest minister Jyotipriyo Mallick, who previously served as the food minister, for his alleged involvement in the scam. The agency is also actively searching for absconding TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh in connection with the case.

The ED's ongoing investigation into the ration scam in West Bengal has led to multiple raids and the arrest of key individuals. The agency's efforts aim to uncover the full extent of the scam, trace the flow of funds, and bring those responsible to justice.
