ED Raids Kolkata Businessmen Linked to Absconding TMC Leader Shajahan Sheikh

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids in Kolkata targeting businessmen allegedly associated with absconding Trinamool Congress leader Shajahan Sheikh in connection with an old case of fraudulent land grab. The raids were conducted at five different locations in and around the city, including Howrah, Bijoygarh, and Birati. The ED seized several documents related to the bank accounts of the businessmen and their family members.

In a significant development, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on Friday at the residences of businessmen allegedly associated with absconding Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Shajahan Sheikh. The raids were carried out in connection with an old case of fraudulent land grab, according to a senior ED officer.

Raids Conducted in Multiple Locations

The ED initiated raids and search operations early Friday morning at five different locations in and around Kolkata, including Howrah, Bijoygarh, and Birati. The sleuths of the probe agency seized several documents related to the bank accounts of the businessmen and their family members.

Businessmen Involved in Fish Trade with Sheikh

The ED officer revealed that the businessmen were involved in fish trade with Shajahan Sheikh. The agency may issue summons to these individuals if further questioning is deemed necessary.

Fresh Summons Issued to Sheikh in Ration Scam Case

Concurrently, the ED issued fresh summons to Shajahan Sheikh in connection with his alleged involvement in the multi-crore ration scam. Sheikh has been asked to appear before ED officers on February 29. This marks the fourth summon issued by the ED to Sheikh, who has failed to appear for any of the previous summons.

Sheikh Absconding Since January

TMC leader Shajahan Sheikh has been absconding since January 5, when a mob assaulted a team of ED officers who attempted to enter his residence in Sandeshkhali, North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal.
