Election Commission announces assembly polls date: Haryana, Maharashtra to vote on October 15

New Delhi, September 12: The election Commission on Friday announced the assembly elections date for Haryana and Maharashtra.

Chief Election Commissioner V.S. Sampath made the big announcement during a press conference that both Haryana and Maharashtra will elect new assemblies in single phase on October 15 and the results will be declared on October 19.

"Model Code of Conduct comes into effect immediately" the CEC said adding "as per SC orders, Commission has made provision for NOTA in EVMs."

"16,244 polling stations are in Haryana and 90,403 in Maharashtra", Sampath said while briefing the media.

288 seats in Maharashtra and 90 seats in Haryana will go to polls on October 15.

"We are ready for elections, Congress will form its Government for the third time in Haryana", Haryana CM Bhupinder Singh Hooda told reporters.

"Election Commission has announced dates, we welcome it, party is prepared", Abhay Chautala, INLD leader said.

"BJP is ready, our alliance is ready for elections", Devendra Fadnavis, BJP state president said on upcoming Maharashtra Assembly polls.
