During exam season in UP, ‘cheating mafias’ make a fortune
During board exam season in Uttar Pradesh, cheating mafias charge huge amount of money to help students copy.
Lucknow, March 29: If reports are to be believed, cheating during exams in Uttar Pradesh is an organised crime. According to police, several cheating mafias work to help students copy during board exams. As board exams are considered make-or-break moment for students, thus they resort to cheating.
To illegally help these students, who are often ill-prepared for their exams, cheating mafias are said to work in tandem with coaching institutes, school teachers and police too. These cheating mafias charge huge amount of money from students to help them during their exams.
Even Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, who also holds the education portfolio, admitted the existence of cheating mafias. In order to make exams free from cheating, Sharma has instructed district officials to identify and punish cheating mafias. He has also asked officials not to allow gathering of people within 200 meters of exam centres across the state.

On Monday, examination for English paper was postponed after mass cheating incidents came under notice at two centres in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, reported ANI. The cheating episodes were caught on camera, as relatives and friends of examinees were seen helping them giving notes openly.
After report of mass cheating has come to light, the education department has increased the vigil in all exam centres across the state. According to a report by Times of India, two Munna Bhai style impersonators were caught after they were found writing exams on behalf of two students in Mainpuri.
Meanwhile, to put a check on cheating in the board examinations, newly-formed Uttar Pradesh government under Chief Minister Adityanath Yogi has issued helpline numbers on Tuesday.
The state government has issued two numbers--one, WhatsApp 9454457241--and another landline--0522 2236760--to prevent copying.
