Two men from Uttar Pradesh were duped of Rs 4.5 lakh with false job promises and left stranded in Russia without food or shelter for days. They eventually returned home after receiving financial help from their families.

Instead of receiving legitimate work permits, the victims were allegedly issued tourist visas for their trip to Russia. The two men eventually managed to contact their families, who sent money for their return tickets. They arrived back in India on July 17, as stated by a senior officer.

Fake Job Offers and Financial Transactions

Nizamuddin from Badarpur in Delhi and his associate Premchand allegedly enticed the victims with counterfeit job offer letters from a supposed Russian company. The complainant, Pramod Chauhan, a 45-year-old mason from Maharajganj district in Uttar Pradesh, had worked in Saudi Arabia for nearly 18 years. He reconnected with Nizamuddin earlier this year to seek overseas opportunities.

Chauhan trusted Nizamuddin and agreed to pay for a job in Russia. He received an agreement and appointment letter on June 30. His neighbour, Gautam Sahni, also decided to join after Chauhan informed him about the offer. Investigations revealed that the accused collected Rs 50,000 in cash and Rs 4.05 lakh through online transfers from the victims.

Legal Actions and Police Investigation

The Delhi Police Crime Branch has registered a case following a complaint from one of the victims. The investigation is ongoing to uncover more details about the fraudulent scheme and hold those responsible accountable.

This incident highlights the risks associated with trusting unverified job offers abroad. It serves as a cautionary tale for individuals seeking employment opportunities overseas to thoroughly verify the authenticity of such offers before making any financial commitments.
