Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has said there will be a dry day in the entire state on January 22. In compliance with orders, all country liquor and foreign liquor retail shops, restaurant bars, hotel bars, and clubs in Chhattisgarh will be closed on January 22. The directive emphasises ensuring that no liquor is sold or served on this designated dry day in any establishment or by any individual.

Authorities have directed a strict prohibition on personal storage and storage of liquor in unlicensed premises during the specified period. Additionally, an investigative team has been formed to monitor suspicious locations and vehicles, aiming to prevent the illegal storage of liquor.

Assam

The government of Assam also decided to mark January 22 as a dry day, as informed by the tourism minister of the state, Jayanta Malla Baruah.

Why this date has been chosen?
As per the astrologers, January 22 is Karma Dwadashi. It is believed that Lord Vishnu took the form of a tortoise that day and helped in the churning of the ocean and Lord Shri Ram is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu.
