Driving Training for Women in Ghaziabad: NCRTCs Initiative for Economic Empowerment

The NCRTCs driving training program in Ghaziabad aims to empower women homemakers by providing them with driving skills, enhancing their livelihood opportunities, and promoting economic independence.

In a significant step towards enhancing the livelihoods and economic independence of women, the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has launched a driving training program for women homemakers in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. This initiative aims to empower women by equipping them with a valuable skill that can open up new opportunities for employment and self-reliance.

Drive to Independence: NCRTCs Driving Training Transforms Ghaziabad Women

Driving Lessons for Economic Empowerment

Under this program, approximately 500 women between the ages of 18 and 35 are receiving driving lessons in separate batches. The NCRTC, a joint venture company of the Government of India and the states of Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Delhi, is committed to providing these women with the necessary training and support to achieve economic independence.

Awareness Campaign and Training Phases

Prior to the commencement of the driving lessons, an awareness campaign was conducted in various neighborhoods of Ghaziabad. Through surveys and outreach efforts, women were informed about the benefits of learning to drive and the potential for economic self-reliance. Based on the survey results, a list of women interested in the program was compiled.

The driving training program is conducted in collaboration with the Maruti Motor Training Centre and is structured into four phases over 21 days, with one hour of training each day. The initial phase involves classroom training, where women are introduced to the rules of driving and safety precautions. This is followed by technical information about vehicles in the second phase.

Simulator Training and Road Practice

In the third phase, women are taught to maintain control while driving through the use of simulators. This provides a safe and controlled environment for them to practice and develop their driving skills. Finally, in the last phase, women are guided to practice driving on the roads under the supervision of experienced instructors.

Assistance in Obtaining Learning Licence

In addition to the driving training, NCRTC is also assisting the women participants in obtaining a learning licence for driving. This support ensures that they have the necessary documentation to legally operate a vehicle on the roads.

The NCRTC's driving training initiative in Ghaziabad is a commendable effort to empower women and promote their economic independence. By providing women with the skills and knowledge to drive, the program opens up new avenues for employment and self-reliance. This initiative serves as an inspiration for other organizations and communities to invest in women's empowerment and create a more inclusive society.
