'Double standards' will only undermine efforts to combat terror: India on China's move
India on Thursday slammed China's double standards as it once again blocked a move by the US to sanction Masood Azhar as 'global terrorist'.
"India is deeply disappointed," the ministry of external affairs said in a statement.
"We are deeply disappointed that once again, a single country has blocked international consensus on the designation of an acknowledged terrorist and leader of UN-designated terrorist organisation, Masood Azhar," said Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Raveesh Kumar in a statement, without naming China.
"India strongly believes that double standards will only undermine international community's resolve to combat terrorism," the MEA said.
The ministry further said, "India hopes there will be realisation that accommodating with terrorism for narrow objectives is short sighted and counter productive."
China on Thursday blocked another bid by the US, France and the UK to list Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) chief and Pathankot terror attack mastermind Masood Azhar as a global terrorist by the UN, saying it has rejected the move as "there is no consensus".
