Does Rahul Gandhi claim opposition is silenced to cover his tardy performance in Parliament
Rahul Gandhi in London has made several controversial statements. His latest tirade has once again been against the RSS, when he compared the organisation to the Muslim Brotherhood
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been giving speeches in many parts of the world and one of his major allegations is that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the opposition has been silenced in India.
Senior adviser, Ministry and Information Broadcasting, Kanchan Gupta put out a series of tweets to debunk these claims made by Rahul Gandhi.

"Rahul Gandhi's baseless claim that Opposition is silenced in India's Parliament is to cover his own tardy performance as MP and exceptionally low participation in proceedings. His attendance is way lower than Kerala average; way way lower than national average," Gupta said in a tweet.
He also put out another statistic to show that there have been entire sessions of Parliament, when the Congress leader and Waynad MP, Rahul Gandhi has scored zero attendance.
On an average, Members of Parliament of India have participated in 68 debates. The Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi's score is a potable 6, Kanchan Gupta further added.
Further it was learnt that Rahul Gandhi had asked 92 questions between 2019 and 2023 in the Parliament. The average for Kerala MPs is 216 and the national average is 163, Gupta further added.
Further Gupta pointed out that when it came to introducing Private Member Bills, the Kerala average is 3.7 while the national average is 1.2. In the case of Rahul Gandhi it is none as he has not introduced any Private Member Bills, Gupta said.
"Data in this thread is publicly available. The data nails Rahul Gandhi's egregious lies that: Opposition is silenced in Parliament of India; Opposition is not allowed to raise issues; Opposition cannot ask questions. Rahul Gandhi must stop defaming India from foreign soil," Kanchan Gupta also said.
Rahul Gandhi is like an errant school who, when asked by his teacher where is his homework, blithely lies: The dog ate my homework, Gupta also said.
Rahul Gandhi is in London and has made several controversial statements. On Monday he drew a false comparison between the RSS and Muslim Brotherhood.
"And the reason for the change is one organisation called the RSS - a fundamentalist, fascist organisation that has captured pretty much all of India's institutions," he said during an interaction with a London based think-tank Chatham House.
"It shocked me how successful they have been at capturing the different institutions of our country. The Press, Judiciary, Parliament, and Election Commission are all under threat and are controlled in one way or the other," he said.
This is not the first time that Rahul Gandhi is making such statements about the RSS. Five yers back he had similar claims stating that the RSS is trying to change the nature of India. There is no other organisation in the world which wants to capture India's institutions. And what we are dealing with is a completely new idea. It is an old idea that is reborn, he said.
To be sure that the Muslim Brotherhood is an Islamist outfit, founded in Egypt and it is infamous for promoting poetical Islam, Sharia law, violence and terror.
