Former Chief Minister of Gujarat Anandiben Patel launched a scathing attack on AICC Vice President Rahul Gandhi for his mockery of women's representation in Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. In a statement, Patel demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi for his statements which she deemed 'insulting to women'.

"Do women need Gandhi scion's permission to wear clothes?" Anandiben Patel asks Rahul

"Rahul Gandhi has demeaned and insulted women of Gujarat, who are in the forefront of the society today. Do you (Rahul Gandhi) only check out what women wear? Do they need permission from the Gandhi scion before wearing clothes?" Anandiben Patel asked. Her statement was a reaction to Rahul Gandhi's earlier jibe on the RSS. "Their (BJP's) main organization is the RSS. Have you ever seen any woman in shakhas wearing shorts?" he had asked earlier in the day.

Reacting sharply to it, the former Gujarat Chief Minister demanded that the AICC vice-president apologizes for his statements. " Are such comments part of Congress culture? Do Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi's sister (Priyanka ) find his statement acceptable?" she asked.

Patel slammed Rahul Gandhi for his statements and claimed that no women would find them in good taste. Patel warned the Congress of backlash on the electoral front if Rahul Gandhi refused to apologize for his statements.
