‘Do not want mid-term elections in Bihar': BJP
Nitish Kumar on Wednesday resigned as Bihar Chief Minister after a standoff with RJD over corruption charges against Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav.
With the JDU and the RJD having finally drifted apart after Nitish Kumar's resignation, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday welcomed Nitish's decision and said they do not want a mid-term election in the state.

"BJP welcomes battle against corruption in Bihar. We are not in favour of mid-term elections," Union minister J P Nadda said after BJP's Parliamentary Party Board meeting.

Reports suggest that BJP may lend outside support to Nitish.
JD (U) has 71 seats and BJP has 53 seats in the Bihar Assembly. If BJP decides to support Nitish then they will have 124 seats in the 243 seat Bihar Assembly.
Speaking to the media earlier, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad refrained from divulging in clear terms about their future course of action, but said that they have worked with Nitish for a long time in the past.
"This (RJD-JDU) alliance was a mismatch. It was forged out of fear of BJP. Nitish was part of NDA government in the past and we have worked with him," he said.
