DMK chief Karunanidhi admitted to hospital for change of tracheostomy tube
Chennai, July 18: DMK Supremo M Karunanidhi was admitted to a Chennai hospital today for an elective procedure to change trache eotomy tubes.
A bulletin issued by hospital executive director Dr Arvind Selvaraj said Karunanidhi would be discharged in the afternoon.
A former chief minister, Karunanidhi underwent a tracheostomy in December 2016. The procedure was necessitated by the fact that he had breathing difficulty caused by a throat and lung infection.He gets the tube replaced every six months.
In 2017 he had been admitted at Kauvery hospital in Chennai where he had undergone the same minor procedure. In the past few months the leaders have been actively meeting people, including political leaders. He has also been undergoing speech therapy.
