Diwali 2025: Ujjain Prepares Massive 50,000 Sq Ft Rangoli at Mahakaleshwar Mandir for World Record

Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, is preparing for an extraordinary Diwali celebration this year. A massive 50,000-square-foot rangoli is being created at the Shri Mahakaleshwar Temple.

The grand design, part of the temple's five-day Deepotsav festivities, aims to make history by setting a new world record. The preparations reflect the city's deep-rooted devotion and cultural splendour.

A Grand Celebration at the Sacred Jyotirlinga

Dedicated to Lord Shiva as Mahakala, the temple is one of India's most revered shrines. It is famous for its Swayambhu (self-manifested) Shiva Lingam, which uniquely faces south among the twelve Jyotirlingas.

The Deepotsav at Mahakaleshwar is marked by special rituals, devotional songs, and traditional offerings. The celebrations symbolize the triumph of light over darkness and the eternal power of faith.

Devotion, Art, and Heritage Unite

The enormous rangoli is not only an artistic masterpiece but also a symbol of devotion and cultural pride. Thousands of devotees and visitors are expected to gather to witness this spiritual marvel.

The temple premises will be adorned with glowing diyas, colourful decorations, and vibrant lights. Special aartis will be performed to honour Lord Mahakal, filling the air with chants and divine energy.

Ayodhya's Record-Breaking Diwali Preparations

While Ujjain readies for its own luminous celebration, Ayodhya is also preparing for a grand Deepotsav. The festivities will begin several days before October 20, the main day of Diwali.

Over 29 lakh diyas will illuminate the ghats of the sacred Saryu River as the city strives to break world records. The celebrations will include Ram Leela performances, cultural events, and grand aartis near Ram Ki Paidi and the Ram Mandir.

These events will commemorate Lord Ram's return to Ayodhya after his victory over Ravana, symbolizing the triumph of righteousness and light.
