Dilli Bazaar Will Take Delhi Markets To People Across The Globe: Know How Here

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said Indian industrialists and entrepreneurs can beat the Chinese products at the international level if they are given a chance by simplifying the government systems and procedures.

Attending the Chandni Chowk Shopping Festival, he said that his government will give an international identity to markets of the city through initiatives like 'Delhi Shopping Festival' and a virtual marketplace 'Dilli Bazar'.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal

"We can beat the Chinese products at the international level but the traders and entrepreneurs do not get opportunities. The governments instead of acting as partners and facilitators, create hurdles in everything. If our traders and entrepreneurs are given a chance by simplifying the government system then we can undoubtedly leave behind China," Kejriwal said.

So, what is 'Dilli Bazaar'?

A virtual market named 'Dilli Bazaar' is in the works to provide global exposure to Delhi's iconic markets. This online marketplace will consolidate all the renowned stores in Delhi onto a unified platform.

The Delhi Government aims to bring over one lakh shops in Delhi to the 'Dilli Bazaar' portal, offering them a 24x7 digital storefront in a matter of six months after its launch.

The government intends to create a distinctive virtual platform enabling users to virtually tour both Delhi's renowned and neighborhood markets, and peruse the range of products available. The 'Dilli Bazaar' portal will feature a specialized team responsible for comprehensive branding solutions, including physical visits to these markets.

Emphasising the "Go Local" motto, customers on this platform will be able to search for products, markets, sellers, and geographical areas to discover the unique markets of Delhi, each with its distinctive branding. The portal will give a significant boost to the renowned local shops in various markets of Delhi, offering search options by market, shop name, and product category.

Every shopkeeper in Delhi, with or without a GST number, will have the opportunity to register on the portal. Each shopkeeper will be provided with a customized digital store on the platform, showcasing all of their products. Dilli Bazaar aims to extend beyond a typical e-commerce platform by incorporating virtual market tours. This feature will allow customers and visitors to navigate market streets and shops, enhancing their shopping experience and simplifying itinerary planning.

The 'Dilli Bazaar' portal shall also be Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) enabled. It will enable a similar kind of flexibility in e-commerce like UPI has in e-payments. Under ONDC, one will be able to buy a product from the shop you want but choose the platform of your choice. For example, at present, if one logs on to Amazon or Flipkart they will only be able to buy from their sellers and their sellers will only be able to sell using their platform.

On 'Dilli Bazaar', the sellers will be able to sell across platforms and give an explicit choice to the buyer to choose the platform. The scheme's first phase will concentrate on involving product sellers on the platform. This platform will be connected to service providers in the second phase. The Dilli Bazaar portal will also be extremely beneficial to start-ups. If a start-up is starting a new project, it can sell its products on this portal.
